Planning your adventure to Tanzania? We’ve gathered the most common questions travelers ask about safaris, climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, and Zanzibar holidays.
The best time to go on safari in Tanzania is during the dry season (June to October) when wildlife is easier to spot around water sources. If you want to see the Great Migration in the Serengeti, the best months are June–July for the river crossings and January–March for the calving season.
A Tanzania safari costs between $200 and $1,000+ per person, per day, depending on the level of comfort. Budget safaris with camping are the most affordable, while luxury lodges and fly-in safaris are more expensive. Most packages include park fees, guides, transport, meals, and accommodation.
Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro is challenging but achievable for most people with good fitness and preparation. It is a trek, not a technical climb, but the high altitude makes it demanding. Choosing a longer route (7–9 days) improves acclimatization and success rates.
The Machame, Lemosho, and Northern Circuit routes are the most recommended. Machame is scenic and popular, Lemosho offers fewer crowds and great views, and Northern Circuit has the highest success rate due to gradual acclimatization.
The best time to visit Zanzibar is during the dry seasons: June–October and December–February. These months offer sunny weather, perfect for beach holidays, diving, and exploring Stone Town. April and May bring heavy rains, so they are less ideal.
Top attractions in Zanzibar include Stone Town (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), the famous Spice Farms, Prison Island, and the beautiful beaches of Nungwi, Kendwa, and Paje. Many travelers also enjoy dolphin tours, snorkeling, diving, and cultural experiences.
