This 7 Days Grumeti Migration Safaris is tailored for wildlife enthusiasts seeking to witness the drama of the Great Migration along the Grumeti River corridor in western Serengeti. Between May and July, thousands of wildebeest and zebras gather in search of water and fresh grazing, creating intense predator-prey encounters. You’ll experience close-up views of river crossings, where animals confront crocodiles lurking in the waters, while lions and cheetahs stalk the herds on land. Each day is filled with game drives through migration hotspots, and evenings are spent in luxurious tented camps.
Day 1: Arrival – Kilimanjaro International Airport to Arusha
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) or Arusha Airport (ARK), you will be warmly welcomed by a safari representative. You’ll then be transferred to your hotel in Arusha for check-in, relaxation, and an overnight stay. Take this time to unwind and prepare for the adventure ahead.
Day 2: Arusha to Tarangire National Park
After breakfast, depart Arusha for Tarangire National Park. This scenic park is renowned for its large herds of elephants, iconic baobab trees, and rich wildlife diversity. Enjoy a full day of game drives, with opportunities to spot lions, giraffes, zebras, and a variety of bird species. In the evening, transfer to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Tarangire to Central Serengeti
Today after breakfast, begin your journey toward the famous Serengeti National Park. Drive through beautiful landscapes and arrive in Central Serengeti by midday. Enjoy an afternoon game drive in the Seronera region, a wildlife-rich area known for frequent sightings of predators and plains game. Later, head to your lodge or camp for dinner and a restful night under the stars.
Day 4: Central Serengeti to Western Serengeti (Grumeti Region)
Start your day with an early morning game drive in the Central Serengeti before heading west toward the Grumeti region. Along the way, explore changing landscapes and stop at waterholes where wildlife often gathers. Upon arrival in the Western Serengeti, explore the Grumeti River—home to hippos, crocodiles, and potential wildebeest crossings (especially between May and July). End the day with an evening game drive before retiring to your lodge.
Day 5: Full Day in Western Serengeti
Spend the entire day exploring the Western Corridor of Serengeti. Begin with a sunrise game drive along the Grumeti River, where lions, hyenas, and other predators are most active. During migration season, witness thrilling scenes of wildebeest and zebra herds crossing the river. Throughout the day, explore remote areas with sightings of elephants, giraffes, elands, and even cheetahs or leopards. Wind down with a sunset game drive and soak in the beauty of the African wilderness.
Day 6: Western Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater
Enjoy one last morning game drive in the Grumeti region before starting your drive to Ngorongoro. The scenic journey will take you through the Serengeti plains and into the lush Ngorongoro Highlands. In the afternoon, descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for a game drive in one of Africa’s most breathtaking wildlife havens—home to the Big Five and a range of other animals. After the safari, ascend and proceed to your lodge in the Karatu area for dinner and overnight.
Day 7: Ngorongoro to Kilimanjaro International Airport
After breakfast, begin your journey back to Kilimanjaro International Airport. Enjoy the last views of Tanzania’s highlands and, time permitting, stop in Arusha for lunch or souvenir shopping. Arrive at the airport in time for your international flight. This marks the end of your unforgettable 7-day safari. Safe travels and karibu tena (welcome again)!
