2 Day Tanzania Safari to Mikumi

Overview

This 3‑day safari begins with a 4‑hour drive from Dar es Salaam to Mikumi National Park, where you’ll enjoy your first wildlife drive on arrival. Day 2 is dedicated to exploring Mikumi’s savannahs on game drives (and an optional guided walk) in search of giraffes, elephants, buffaloes, hippos, zebras, and many antelope species. After a final morning in the park on Day 3, you return to Dar es Salaam, arriving by afternoon. It’s a quick but rewarding escape that delivers classic Tanzanian wildlife viewing within easy reach of the city.

Day to Day Itinerary

Day 1:Dar Es Salaam - Mikumi

On the first day of safari you will be picked up at your hotel in Dar es Salaam or at the Airport and start on your drive to Mikumi National Park along the Dar es Salaam – Morogoro highway. The park is nestled beautifully nestled between the Uluguru Mountains of the Ancient Eastern Arc Mountains to the East and the Great Rift Valley  Escarpments to the parks Southwest. Not very far from Dar es Salaam and on a good tarmac road the transfer from Dar es Salaam to Mikumi takes about 4 – 4.5 hours. You will arrive around noon and go straight for game drives around the park with packed lunch at a picnic site. Later in the afternoon we drive to the Camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 2:Full day Mikumi National Park

Spend a full day with game drives around the Mikumi National Park with a packed lunch or do morning and afternoon game drives with a lunch break at the lodge/tented camp. Mikumi National Park is part of the larger Selous Ecosystem together with the Selous Game Reserve and harbors remarkable numbers of bird’s species and animals. Among the animals that can be spotted at Mikumi includes giraffes, elephants, buffaloes, hippos, impalas, warthogs, zebras, wildebeests, elands and many other antelopes. Apart from game drives in the park you can also go for a guided walking safari guided by an armed ranger.

Day 03:Mikumi - Dar Es Salaam

This morning after breakfast check out of the lodge/camp and drive back (with picnic lunch on the way) to Dar es Salaam where the safari ends. You will be dropped back at your hotel or Dar es Salaam Airport
